Q:
Please explain how the top schools are ranked in HSC. The percentage of distinguished achievers (D.A.) represent what? Is this related to ATAR score?
A:
HSC results are divided statistically into bands, from 1 (lowest) to 6 (highest) in a standard course, or from E1 to E4 in an extension course. Students who achieve a band 6 or E4 result are recognised as Distinguished Achievers. This is equivalent to an HSC score of 90% or more.
HSC Distinguished Achievers lists the students who achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4) for one or more courses. The school reported is the student's main school. In some cases the student may have studied one or more courses at another school.
It's ATAR score related.
- Exams sat: HSC exam entries
- DA: no. of DAs
- %: percentage of exams sat that achieved a DA
Notes
DA means Distinguished Achievers.
Distinguished Achievers are the students who achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4) for one or more courses. The school reported is the student's main school. In some cases the student may have studied one or more courses at another school.
