Hello friends,

Makerere University in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, has been operating as a technical college since 1922; in 1970, the university became a private college independent of the Ugandan government. As of 2010, the school operates degree-granting programs in 22 different departments catering to about 30,000 undergraduate students. Scholarships to Makerere University help students broaden their horizons beyond the East African nation and improve the education of Ugandan citizens.

Makerere University has numerous collegiate partnerships with schools from other countries that are designed to broaden the horizons of its students outside the African nation. The Makerere/Carnegie Female Scholarship Initiative, a partnership between the school and the Carnegie Corporation, helps underprivileged women attend Makerere to earn their degrees; as of 2010, graduation rates for women attending Makerere under the Female Scholarship Initiative were at 88 percent. Citizens of the country of India can apply for a Ugandan Commonwealth Scholarship, which will pay for airfare to Uganda and tuition at Makerere University.

Thanks and Regards
