The unemployment challenge of young men


Young male Australians have been the main victims of the global financial crisis and the recession. According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, for the people in the age group 15-24, the change in full-time jobs between average of three months to July and the same period last year is -122,000 (-12%). In net terms, all the loss has been among men, not women. The people who are over 55 gained 66, 000 (6%) while the change of the people in the age group 25-54 is -66, 000 (-1%). The overall change is -122, 000 (-2%).
