Wellington Secondary College
The College is a large highly respected co-educational state school (7-12) providing a quality educational program to the Mulgrave, Springvale, Noble Park and Dandenong North communities and also to overseas communities. Student enrolment is approximately 1150 local students plus 80 international students.
The campus is set amongst landscaped gardens and extensive courtyards within a natural bush setting. It includes a performing arts complex, well equipped specialist rooms, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a local area computer network incorporating a suite of computer rooms as well as a number of laptop calves and separate Senior School and Year 7 Centres.
Nearby is Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre (medical centre, department stors, post office, banks, chemist, supermarkets). The main campus of Monash University with other university campuses and TAFE colleges within a fifteen kilometre radius of the College.
The College provides a comprehensive program based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards. One language, French is the key Language Other Than English study. Many students study Chinese, Vietnamese, or other languages at the Saturday School of Languages.
Students with learning difficulties are provided with a specially tailored program designed to improve their literacy and/or numeracy. They are withdrawn from LOTE classes and placed in small groups with specialist teachers. This program recently won a State Achievement Award for excellence in literacy instruction.
Students are encouraged to enrol in the Instrumental Music program to learn an instrument or to enrol in other special programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
