Reading the VCE ranking table

Q:
On the VCE ranking table, can you please clarify which is the ranking - is it the first black number or the highlighted purple number. There are 2 numbers under the heading ranking and for some schools these numbers differ.

The first column is just the row number. The second column is the rank. The reason to have two columns is that there may be equal ranks. In this case, the row number and the rank differ.
